From Satanism to Salvation: Renee Shaffer’s Redemption
Once a channeler of demons, now a messenger for Christ — this is Renee Shaffer’s incredible true story.
Welcome to Real Stories, where we uncover raw, unfiltered tales that grip the soul and spark wonder. Renee Shaffer’s life is one such story—a journey through darkness, defiance, and divine intervention.
"If you’re truly seeking the truth, God will be there." — Renee Shaffer
Renee’s story moves from the shadows of the occult to the structure of the Marine Corps to the freedom of a life rooted in Christ. It’s a journey that proves no one is ever too far gone. How a young woman fled demons for the Marine Corps, found Jesus in bootcamp, and built a new life in Christ.
"I was a Channeler," she recalls, describing her role in a cult, "talking to demons… their goal was really just to cause chaos".
Today, Renee is a Christian minister, guiding young people toward hope.
This is a story of chaos, courage, and a choice to love.
A Childhood in the Shadows
Renee’s early years weren’t filled with playgrounds or fairy tales. By the time most kids were learning to read, she was learning to see demons.
"I had the ability to communicate with them," she says, painting a chilling picture of a tangible spiritual realm.
Immersed in Satanism, Renee joined a cult, participating in blood sacrifices and rituals that thrived on destruction. As a Channeler, she channeled demonic messages, fueling the cult’s mission to sow discord—often targeting Christians.
But something unexpected happened. Her spiritual attacks on believers would hit an invisible wall.
"In the spirit, I would see a dome, like a blue dome over groups of Christians that were praying," she recalls (05:20).
"There was a no-go zone, just absolutely no power".
That dome of protection cracked her worldview, hinting that a force stronger than chaos existed. Still, the darkness clung tight. Renee felt trapped, hunted by “angry witches” and the demons she once served.
Running to the Marines
Desperate to escape, Renee made a bold move: she joined the Marine Corps.
"I thought I needed to run away from angry witches, from demons, whatever," she says.
"So I’m like, I’m going to join the Marine Corps and run away".
The Marines offered structure, discipline—and a chance to outrun her past. But bootcamp brought more than drills and grit. It brought her face-to-face with a new kind of power.
During a Pentecostal service—loud and alive with music, dancing, and worship—Renee felt something unfamiliar. Drawn to the energy, she thought:
"This is very different from where I’ve come from".
Then came the thunderbolt: a sermon rooted in Luke 24. Jesus wasn’t just a spirit or a teacher—He was alive, powerful, real. As the preacher spoke, Renee heard an angel’s voice echo:
"Why seek the living among the dead? He is not here but has risen".
The words shattered her old framework.
"God was telling me that I couldn’t worship Him like I worshiped Satan," she remembers.
"It didn’t work like that… He was calling me to love on Him and love on His people".
In that moment, she asked Jesus to be her Savior and Lord, stepping from darkness into light.
A Brush with Death, a Deeper Call
Salvation at boot camp marked a turning point, but Renee’s journey deepened through a near-death experience.
She found herself before Jesus Christ, who showed her visions of creation itself . Yet He didn’t condemn her—not for her cult days, her attacks, or her struggles. Instead, He offered her a choice: return to life or stay with Him.
"Jesus really hammered it home that all He wanted was a relationship," she reflects."That’s all He wants. We’re His children, quite literally" (30:01).
Renee chose life—a life rooted in faith, built on the foundation laid in that Marine Corps worship service.
From Chaos to Calling
The Marines gave Renee discipline; Jesus gave her purpose.
She left Satanism, the occult, and her old battles behind, diving headfirst into healing and discovery. Today, she’s a minister, working with young people to share the hope she found.
Her story lives in her book, in her church’s youth programs, and in the countless conversations where she reminds others:
"If you’re truly seeking the truth, God will be there".
From demons to bootcamp to divine love—Renee has lived it all.
