This Is More Than a Book
It Is a Call from Heaven
Heaven Encounters reached the bestseller list and went into a second printing within two weeks of release. The milestone is real. What stands behind it is historic.
Two weeks. That is all it took.
Heaven Encounters reached the bestseller list and went into a second printing that fast. I am grateful, and I do not take it lightly. But I have learned not to confuse a milestone with a message. The sales are the milestone. What stands behind them is the message.
Something is happening, and it is bigger than any book. I have watched it build for years. God is sending witnesses back from death, and He is doing it by the score.
God Is Raising Lazaruses
When Jesus stood outside the tomb in Bethany, He did not whisper. He cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth (John 11:43). A dead man walked out still wrapped in his graveclothes. The grave was never the point. The One who held its keys was the point.
That is what I see today. Across the nations, God is calling people back from the edge of death, and some from past it. They return with a report. They saw a Person. They saw a realm. And they will not stay silent about either.
I am one of them. In April 2005 I died in a hospital in Oceanside, California. For more than thirty minutes I was gone. I met Jesus Christ. He gave me four words. Take back the narrative. I held that to myself for fourteen years. Then I began to listen to others who had been where I had been. Their reports lined up with mine.
Nothing Like This Has Been Gathered Before
Heaven has spoken before. The apostle Paul was caught up into paradise and heard words he was not permitted to repeat. But accounts like his came one at a time, across centuries. They were rare, and they were scattered.
How that he was caught up into paradise, and heard unspeakable words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter. 2 Corinthians 12:4
Nothing like this book has been assembled before. Never at this scale. Never with the same Person standing at the center of every account. 140 people went to the other side and came back naming Jesus Christ. That is not a publishing event. It is a landmark. Years from now people will look back and mark this as the moment the witnesses were gathered into one record.
One Witness Can Be Doubted. One Hundred Forty Cannot.
Scripture fixed the standard of proof long before any courtroom did.
At the mouth of two witnesses, or at the mouth of three witnesses, shall the matter be established. Deuteronomy 19:15
In the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every word be established. 2 Corinthians 13:1
One testimony can be questioned. Ten can be argued. But weigh 140. These are people who never met one another. They come from different nations. They came out of every major religion. Some were agnostics. Some were atheists who expected to find nothing at all. They had no way to rehearse a story together. Yet they describe the same Person and the same realities. That is not coincidence. It is corroboration.
I spent my working life inside evidence. I led operations for the fastest growing pharmaceutical company of its day. I served as a biotech CEO. Later, with two of the world’s leading healthcare companies, Johnson & Johnson and Edwards Lifesciences, I led clinical teams in minimally invasive cardiovascular surgery. In that world a claim is worth nothing until it survives scrutiny. The FDA does not accept a moving story. It demands proof that leaves no room for error.
I brought that same discipline to this book. Every account was vetted. We conducted in-depth interviews. We looked for corroboration wherever it could be found. We did not print a testimony because it stirred us. We printed it because it held up.
Now weigh it as a body of evidence. The likelihood that 140 strangers, who came from every major religion, with agnostics and atheists among them, would independently invent the same account is, for every practical purpose, zero. One witness stands or falls alone. A composite of 140 forms a case. For me the verdict is in, and the weight of it is beyond reasonable doubt.
One testimony can be questioned. A composite of 140 forms a case.
What Medicine Cannot Explain
When the heart stops, the brain does not coast. Within seconds the electrical activity that runs the mind goes quiet. The monitors flatten. Within a few minutes, doctors expect permanent damage. By every rule I once worked under, the lights are out, and they do not come back on whole. Yet people are coming back. Not foggy or confused, but clear, with memories sharper than the ones they make on an ordinary day.
This has been studied with care. In 2001 the Dutch cardiologist Pim van Lommel published a prospective study in The Lancet. He followed 344 patients who were brought back after cardiac arrest in ten hospitals. Eighteen percent of them came back reporting a near-death experience, with memories from the period their hearts had stopped. He pressed the question every honest doctor has to ask. How can the mind form a clear, ordered memory at the very moment the brain has gone flat?
The work did not end there. In 2023 a team led by Dr. Sam Parnia published AWARE II in the journal Resuscitation. They placed brain monitors on patients during CPR across more than twenty hospitals. They recorded markers of conscious thought emerging as long as an hour into resuscitation, while the patients lay clinically dead. Some came back and described it. A lucid review of their lives. A vantage point above the room, with details they had no natural way to know.
Mainstream science has no settled explanation for this. I am not going to overstate it and tell you a laboratory has proven Heaven. I will tell you what the researchers themselves say. These findings strain the old assumption that the mind is nothing more than the brain. I believe I know why. The mind is not only the brain, because the person is more than the body. Paul wrote that he would rather be absent from the body and present with the Lord (2 Corinthians 5:8).
There is one more thing a clinician notices. A brain starved of oxygen produces confusion, not clarity. It does not compose a coherent journey with a beginning and an end that a person can still recount in detail years later. These accounts run the other way. The deeper the patient went, the clearer the memory. That is not how a hallucination behaves.
He Saved the Ones the World Gave Up On
Read the testimonies and you will not find a roster of the respectable. Among these 140 are women and men who lived through horrific abuse. There are former drug dealers. Some took human lives. Others once served Satan by name and meant every word of it.
Then each of them died, or came to the edge of it. And on the other side they met the same Person every other witness met. Jesus Christ. He did not turn them away. He pulled them out.
And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God. 1 Corinthians 6:11
Today many of them preach His name. They lead others to Him. The people the world had written off are now the ones calling the lost back home.
A made-up story does not do that. You cannot invent a man out of addiction and into a pulpit. The changed life is part of the evidence. It is the part you can watch with your own eyes.
What They Came Back Describing
They do not come back with vague light and a warm feeling. They come back with detail. They saw how prayers are answered. They watched God take a wrecked life and redeem it. They learned what people do there, and it is not idle drifting. The work is fuller and better than the finest thing we do here.
They describe a place, not a mist. There are homes. People know one another face to face there, fully known, with nothing hidden and nothing to fear. The reunions are real. The love is solid enough to lean your weight on.
They describe animals. Pets that went before them, alive and waiting. And the wild made gentle. More than one witness watched a tiger settle down as tame as a kitten. The old enmity is gone. Isaiah saw it long before they did.
The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid ... and a little child shall lead them. Isaiah 11:6
But the witnesses do not lead with the scenery. They lead with Him. Every road in this book runs back to the same Person. And that brings me to the most important thing these 140 returned to tell us.
A Composite Portrait of God
There are many competing voices today. They argue about the nature of God. They preach one trait and bury another. They contradict one another, and they leave honest people confused about who God actually is.
This book answers them in an unusual way. It does not build God out of arguments. It shows you God through the eyes of people who met Him. Set 140 of those meetings beside each other and a single portrait comes into focus. The same character. The same face. And that face is the face of Jesus Christ.
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me (John 14:6). The witnesses did not reason their way to that. They saw it.
This is not someone’s idea of God. It is the report of people who stood in front of Him. And here is what they keep saying when they return. He is more than they expected, greater and nearer than they were ever taught to believe.
They describe a God who does not keep Himself at arm’s length. He is in constant communion with His people there. He does not drift to the edge of the room. He never leaves your side, and at the same time He never leaves the side of the countless others with Him. As impossible as that sounds from where we stand, the witnesses who saw it say the same thing.
Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them ... and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. Revelation 21:3
The questions you have carried your whole life are answered in these pages. What happens the moment I die. Will I see the people I lost. Does God know my name. Is He angry with me. The witnesses do not answer with theory. They answer with what they saw.
Heaven Is Real. Hell Is Real. God Wants No One There.
Not every witness came back from light. Some came back from darkness. Those accounts are harder to read, and I included them on purpose. Heaven is real. Hell is real. To leave one out would be to soften the truth, and softened truth has never saved anyone.
But hear the heart of God inside it.
The Lord is ... not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. 2 Peter 3:9
The risen Christ said it without flinching. I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death (Revelation 1:18). He holds the keys. He is not sending these messengers back to terrify us. He is sending them to wake us.
It is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment (Hebrews 9:27). This life is short. What follows it is not.
Why You Should Not Buy Just One
Let me be direct, because that is how I was trained to write.
This is more than a book. It is a witnessing tool, and I believe it is the strongest one I have ever placed in a reader’s hands. Picture the people you love. The widow who is no longer sure she will see her husband again. The grown son who walked away from the faith he was raised in. The friend who calls himself a skeptic but cannot shake the question of what comes after. This book reaches them where argument alone fails.
I will tell you what it does to a reader. You finish it with more faith than you started with. You love God more, because at last you see Him clearly. And you live this life differently, because you are no longer afraid of the next one. Jesus told us why He came.
I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. John 10:10
That is also why it travels so well. Hand it to someone in grief or someone in doubt, and you will not have to make a single argument. The stories take over. They pull the reader in and do the work a sermon often cannot. You give the book. The witnesses do the witnessing.
So do not buy a single copy. Buy two. Buy more. Keep one and give the rest away. After reading these stories, it is hard to stay unmoved.

Heaven opened its mouth and sent its witnesses home with a message. The least we can do is listen. Then place that message in the hands of someone who needs it.
